Wendy Lyons Sunshine loves exploring ideas, playing with words, and helping shape a healthy world for kids, families, communities, and ecosystems.
She partnered with the late Karyn Purvis, PhD, and her colleague David Cross, PhD, to write The Connected Child: Bring hope and healing to your adoptive child. Named Outstanding Book of the Year by the American Society of Journalists & Authors, The Connected Child has sold over 160,000 copies and continues to top multiple Amazon.com categories.
Wendy is collaborating with leaders of Chaddock Human Services Agency on Lessons from the Toughest Kids: The Chaddock approach to parenting defiant, difficult and hard-to-reach children. This forthcoming book will share techniques honed over decades of running a residential treatment facility and a special needs school.

Wendy holds an MA in professional and technical communication from the University of North Texas and a BA, phi beta kappa, in English from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Wendy has managed writing teams and taught writing at Rutgers University, Texas Tech University, University of North Texas, and Ringling College of Art & Design.
Wendy and her husband live with a formerly feral cat and a rescue dog who could have had a great career in vaudeville.
