About Wendy Lyons Sunshine

Founded on facts. Stories that make a difference.

Can you say “attribute-based access control” or “thoracoabdominal aneurysm?”

Once upon a time I couldn’t either.

Thanks to 20+ years of editorial experience and an MA in professional and technical communication, I am comfortable speaking with SMEs (subject matter experts), managing complex documents, weaving narrative thread, searching databases, and cross-checking figures and footnotes.

I’ve written for The New York Times, ScientificAmerican.com, AARP Magazine, Texas Hospitals, American Way, OnEarth, and many other publications. I’ve been a regular contributor to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and D CEO, and my cover stories for Fort Worth Weekly won state and national journalism awards.

Focused on healthy communities, sustainable economies, thriving ecosystems.

One of my specialties is helping experts share their wisdom. I collaborate with CEOs, MDs, CTOs, PhDs, and entrepreneurs on books and whitepapers, both with and without a byline.

My best known collaboration is  The Connected Child: Bring hope and healing to your adoptive child. Named Outstanding Book of the Year by the American Society of Journalists & Authors, The Connected Child has sold more than 160,000 copies, was translated into multiple languages, and continues to top its Amazon.com categories.

Look for Lessons from the Toughest Kids: The Chaddock approach to parenting defiant, difficult and hard-to-reach children, which sold at auction for a six-figure advance, coming from Revel/Baker.

When you need a skilled freelance writer or editorial partner… when words and meaning matter… for stories that make a difference, contact me and let’s discuss your project.
